Blogging our first pregnancy and child rearing, all the ups and downs, tears and laughs and overthinking that not only comes with being knocked up and a new Momma, but with just being me.
Well, we still don’t have power, but other than that we’re doing just fine, besides some teething related melt downs and a nasty diaper rash but those have nothing to do with the storm!
We hunkered in on Saturday with just a trip to the Doctor in the AM (23lbs, 28.5inches!). We watched The Weather Channel, played on the floor, had some diaper free time and enjoyed some fruits, veggies and turkey chili!
We slept together to ease my anxiety a little and Emilio totally hogged the bed. I was feeling pretty freaked out as they announced a tornado watch and after assessing the trees around us, talking to my Bubba who told me in a very nice way to turn off the TV, and just doing some deep breathing I found just having Emilio next to me eased about 75% of that anxiety.
Today we got out for a couple of walks in the kind of lovely post storm air and checked out some major and minor fallen branches.
More play time with A LOT of pulling up on things and a few tumbles. More diaper free time with only one pooping incident, eh it happens. Some peaches and checking out mac and cheese for lunch (didn’t seem in to it, more interested in chewing on the spoon I gave him).
Not that I had any doubts, but I pulled off single Mom in a hurricane pretty well, if I do say so myself. But man on man, do I miss Matt! And TV, and air conditioning, and being able to turn the lights on at night. I’m not counting on power tonight, besides the generator line our so nice next door neighbor provided that is running the fridge (no defrosting breastmilk yay!) but here’s hoping my a/c turning on in the middle of the night wakes me up!
